Clae / LTD

The other day Hawaii Mike of LTD Magazine was in town. I met up with Hawaii at Fred Segal Santa Monica. After a brief critique of the store we went to meet up with Sung over at the Clae Studio before we all went to try some of the best Pho in town. Mike and Sung are both really humble kats considering the wealth of knowledge and experience they have… It’s always good catching up with these two kats.. I always like a good critique session over a nice meal…  Lets do it again soon…

Debonair Magazine

deb.o.nair |ˌdebəˈne(ə)r|
adjective
(of a man) confident, stylish, and charming.

To be called Debonair is one thing, thinking of your self as debonair is quite another.. I’ve been called debonair in past and probably laughed every time someone has called me debonair.

I really don’t consider myself as debonair person. I think it’s one of those words/ideas one can never achieve only strive for..

Below are 10 questions Claudine Gumbel asked for the Mag.

———–

Claudine Gumbel sat down with Peter James Lee, who in addition to being a photographer, blogger, dj, and gardener also happens to be the founder and designer for Cassette.

1. What are you working on?  What is taking up the majority of your time right now?

2. What are your favorite places to chill out + what cities are they located in?

3. Who is your best friend and why?

4. Do you believe in past lives and if so what/who were you in your past life?

5. What was your best trip ever and where do you want to travel next?

6. Who is your favorite artist, musician, photographer – who inspires you?

7. Do you have a photo you took or a link to a piece of music or a video that speaks to you? Will you share that with me?

8. If you were stranded on an island what book would you take with you? And who would you take with you?

9. Who inspires you fashion wise – what is your staple uniform?  If you had to live in one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

10. What was the most memorable day of your life thus far and why?

(visit debonair magazine here for my answers.)

A Single Man by Tom Ford

As a designer and a person who someday wants to make a film, I was really drawn to see Tom Ford’s movie A Single Man..

If your into fashion or into fashion by Tom Ford, it’s worth a watch. Tom has an amazing sense of style for all things tangible.

The tangible(clothes, set design etc.) aspects to the movie heavily out weighted the intangible(pace, mood, character building) of the movie..

Thumbs up on the clothes, the cars, and the set design.

December 30th 2009

Rolled up with our buddy Joel Madden to Disneyland on practically the last day of the year.. I couldn’t think of a better way to end out the year, going to a place dubbed happiest place on earth.. We had a Disney cast member escort us through the park to every ride and show. It was one of the best times I’ve had at Disneyland as an adult.  It was one of the busiest days yet (before all the kids go back to school from Christmas break) we didn’t wait in a single line, we literally walked on to each ride and  rode most of the rides all to ourselves.. It was an amazing Disney experience. We ate lunch in a private VIP room with a big flat screen, dinner table, sofas, couches, and our own restroom. It was an awesome way to end out the year. Thanks Buddy.

This morning these three photos stood out the most relevant to end out 2009..(Which happens to be the last three I took before we left.)

A wishful look into the past, present, and future..

Here’s to a brighter 2010.

Gold Class

An ol buddy Paul who’s one of the managers to help open Gold Class Cinemas in LA invited me to check out their spot in old town Pasadena.

I sometimes bashfully but most of the times I bold-fully consider myself a movie buff/movie critic. I grew up watching/experiencing movies at places like the Mann Chinese, Mann’s Westwood, Cinerama Dome, Laemmles and (in more in recent years)these Megaplex movie theaters that are conveniently everywhere.

Gold Class Cinemas is trying to make the movie experience special again. Each theater room has 40 (HUGE) automatic reclining seats. If you happen to arrive early you can order a drink from the bar or the lounge.  Once seated in the theater with a push of a button you can order food from a menu. The menu offers a verity of fine wine, and gourmet movie food.

They also have a pretty good selection of beer that’s not of the menu.. The decor feels more like boutique hotel more than it does a movie theater.  The over all experience is sure to win most people over.. I would say the Gold Class might be a little over kill for a once a week movie goer, but with only 40 seats per theater I’m guessing it’s not meant to be for everybody..

It’s a great place for a movie date. Get there early and book tickets in advance..

Sign of the Times

It’s at the start of December and the leaves have just started to change here in Los Angeles. With 2010 approaching it’s been a time of reflection. A decade to remember (some might say forget) but it only begs for me to look at Spring 2010 and beyond.

Like the leaves on a tree and the flowers in the ground, I hope when we get out of this “freeze” you blossom with someone you love/admire/adore/ right next to you.

1200 – It’s So Sad to Say Goodbye

It’s So Sad to Say Goodbye:

“Technics turntables Panasonic announced that they would cease the manufacture of Technics turntables in February next year, citing an increasing decline in sales as the motivation behind the line’s demise.
The Australian arm of Panasonic issued a similar statement today, expressing their disappointment that the brand’s 35 years-and-running legacy was to be put to bed. Link here

I think a lot of vinyl/record collectors or record affectionados like my self romantically thought that “technics 1200’s/1210’s” would never go away…

Could we really have expected an old love to stay around forever while we our selfs wanted the best of both worlds, cheating and embracing other new audio formats?   Now the 35 year old legacy might truly be a legacy…. I guess if you’ve ever wanted a pair of Technics now would be the time to get them.. They are built like tanks..  And I know I am glad I have my turntables. The decision by Panasonic pulling the plug on the 1200’s/1210’s just makes me a little bit more romantic, cuz i’ll be holding on to mine..

SURU MS DC Shoe

A while back buddy Joe Hahn asked me to work on his SURU collaboration shoe with his band mate Mike Shinoda‘s X DC Shoes.

Joe, and Mike are both painters/illustrators in their own right.. Mike already having his artwork on the out-sole,  Joe and I went through some of his illustrations and found a really nice looking skull.. After a few tweaks, rotations, scale adjustments, logo placements, fabric and treatment call outs,

plus a few months….  Next thing you know we have a shoe.. Pretty cool considering most shoes take a prob a year and a half to get to market from sketch to retail, if not MUCH longer..

Both Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn were signing shoes and autographs at the SURU(Melrose/Los Angeles) store this weekend for the release of the shoe..

Thanks Joe for letting me be apart of the SURUxMSxDC Shoe.

Thanks to my buddies at Commonwealth I’ll be sport’n these bad boys in the snow this winter…  These are the illest Frogskins collaboration I’ve seen yet.  Tortoise shell with Oakley Iridum Lenes, yumm..

Oakley developed a special way to replicate the tortoise shell look using their plastics just for this collaboration..

Nuff Respect.

“The Commonwealth rendition features an original “Cmonflauge” pattern inspired by the look of traditional tortoise shell. Using Oakley’s HIgh Definition Optics®, the sunglasses are equipped with your choice of Gold or Fire Iridium lenses.”
