The Wedge in Newport/Balboa was reported to be showing off some 25footers on Friday.. I went on Saturday and saw some waves on the sets break’n at 15feet.. (I knew I should have brought my board..) There were only about a hand full of people in the water and hundreds on shore watching the Wedge showing off.

Oliver Peoples did it again.. When I thought they had already made the perfect of Loc’s last year(Matte Black-Robert Evans).. They did it again, this one is just a tad bigger for a touch more gangster-ness.. K-Mac Attack, sorted out a Mixer at Nobu, Beverly Hills..

Our buddy and photographer Robert Hamada (man behind the pictures of the cassette campaigns) and model Margartia(in the new cassette campaign shot in Paris) made time to stop by Nobu for the dinner mixer.. Good to catch up with them seems like I haven’t seen them in forever..

K-Mac bringing it together.. Nice small group of people from different worlds.. Producers, DJ’s, Photographer, Models, Designer, and a Laywer…

Later we headed to the Rooselvelt for a quick drink in the open air.. Summa–time

Rolled up to Suru/Celeritas’s art show this weekend.. The show was a benefit for Riders for Health an organization that provides motorcycles to health care providers in Africa. Twist, Futura, Stash, Jeff McMillan, Audrey Kawasaki, Troy Lee Designs, Jim Lee, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, Alex Pardee, and Jesse James were the exhibiting artists. All proceeds of silent auction went to Riders for Health.

Linkin Park performed at the Premiere of Transformers 2 in Westwood. This was a huge production, basically closing down a good portion of Westwood for the Movie premiere and the live performance of Linkin Park. Joe Hahn(Linkin Park) hooked up couple of passes to the event.. and it was all good in the hood.. The after party was held adjacent to the performance. Open bar all night and food(appetizers, main courses, and deserts) was catered by Wolfgang Puck. I over heard some people guessing that cost of the days event probably came close to a million dollars(I have no idea but I wouldn’t doubt it..).

Every time I go to Hong Kong I have to stop by this place called Little Sheep.  It’s the OG shabu-shabu (from China).. When you walk in to the restaurant it smells of spices and curry.. You can order the half and half broth base.  On one side  it’s like salty chicken soup,  and the other side is like spicy watered down hot curry.. It may sound nasty but, it’s amazing..  It’s one of those places you just have to go to in order to understand..  Some people say chicken soup is the cure for the common cold, we’ll chopped onions, celery, carrots, and garlic is straight up child’s play when you compare it to this concoction….. 100’s of years of taste-testing.  They just got one in LA.. (smile on my face)

Besides the classic cars and great weather, there is another reason to like Southern California..

Most everyone can have their own garden..

This is Mr. Kling’s garden… Mr. Kling is one bad ass dude. A man’s man, and a veteran of war..

Anyone that knows Mr. Kling knows he’s cut from a different cloth, part scientist, part engineer, part construction worker, an amazing cook, and full time bad ass angler n’ hunter…..

Everyone that I know who knows Mr. Kling says the same thing…. “Dude.. If WWIII ever breaks out and all hell breaks loose I’m heading to Mr. Kling’s house.”

Mr. Kling has known me for over 16 years now.. and I never stop learning from him..

He has practically grown everything that’s at your grocery store, and loves to share what he grows…

Here’s some of the things growing in his garden this season…

1)About 4 different types of Tomatoes 2) Corn

1) Japanese Cucumbers 2) Every different color Bell Pepper you can imagine

I’m really into Jose Parla’s (aka ease) work.. I think it strikes a cord in me cuz of the graff/street background.. Jose has successfully honed that flavor into the white-box art world.  His work is always an inspiration… I could only hope one day to own a small scribble of Jose Parla’s work..

We rolled to the Pasadena Classic Car Show this weekend..

Boy oh boy.. what a site…. Something about owning and taking care of a rare beauty, admiring her, having others admire her, washing her, polishing her, preferring her to others, and sometimes driving her like she wants to be driven…. must be in guys DNA….  I think it’s a guy thing… smile..

Most of all these cars were from local southern California owners.. and a very good reason why I like Los Angeles.. it’s def a car town…. since LA’s birth, it’s always been a car town.. and on occasion you can see some of these rare beauties..

Buddy Bronques is in town and we get to catch up late night at an empty pizza spot.. But before we get to the pizza spot, I roll up to pick him up and he’s in a car talking to some girls… as soon as I get there and say hi, he kindly ends the conversation and were off..

Last time we saw each other was in ny at the Cassette lounge in Bryant Park..  We end up sharing stories of whats been going on in our life’s.  And just catching up talking about all kinds of thins from the wonders of what the economy is going through right now, to camera talk, to branding, to the things we working on right now……

Got a nice package from me hermano Tony Arcabascio, OG ny head and founding member of Alife (who’s on to bigger things these days).  Tony’s a true artist at heart. Tony doesnt like to half step, or come in second.. He’s from a school where being called wack or doing something wack is unacceptable.  Knowing that we have similar views a few things I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tony’s and WeSC’s recent collabo.. It’s a ill tee and denim package.. Simply called Tony, it’s super clean and branded Tony down to the tissue paper(nice touch). Super limited.. Might want to get it if  you can..

There are a few things I would rock of other people stuff…however this is something I can get down with.. Thanks Tony! Nuff Respect.

Funny thing, my mom stops by as I was taking photos.. She notices the cross, and says.. “oh that’s nice.. Bless his heart he put a cross on his clothes..”

Another great book for all you collectors/denim heads..  Simply titled Found this book is amazing.. It’s one of those stories where someone was walking through a field and found an deteriorating abandon barn. Curiosity called them into the barn for some exploration and they found their way up to the attic. Lo and behold they found a stock pile of denim work-wear(field clothes)..

Except this story is true and there’s immaculate documentation of each piece of garment and a nice story to go with it..(look at close up below)

After watching the Angels and Demons movie I met up with Josh Madden and his buddy. We headed to the Anvil Movie opening at the Nu-Art. The Anvil Movie is awesome… Definitely  go see it and support those guys..(I want to say buy one of their 13 Albums..you’ll understand after seeing the movie..) They are awesome!! If you like old school rock music.. Look up Anvil, two brothas from other muthas been rock’n for 30years. They haven’t changed.. An inspiring movie to say the least. Peep the trailer.

I was doing some research for a client who wanted help in the distressed denim dept. and ran into this little gem.

If your into denim Iro-Ochi “Faded Beauty” a must cop if you can get it from someone who has an extra copy. I don’t think they were ever sold at retail. I am led to believe it was published in 2001. A few years ago I heard that this little old book was sold on ebay for $1000.oo bucks.. It’s a great resource if you want to geek out on denim, each page or spread has a shot of a different pair of denim. Next to the photo of the naturally worn in jean, is the brand name, retail cost, how many years it took to get the worn in pattern, how and when the 1st wash was, and what were the washing practices(maintenance of the jean) and lastly any particulars of the jean (like, if it was a original Levi’s XX from the 1940’s etc..).

Nike flew in a few heads from out of town to preview some skate shoe release….Which is cool cuz I was able to have lunch with Tim-Coolhunting, Jeff-Selectism and Blake from Redblack at the good ol El Compadre’s on Sunset.  It was good catchin up with Jeff,  I always enjoy talking with him and hearing his perspective.. Having lunch with these three one can really learn alot about the Internet world that we all seem to live in.. I sure did. We talk about all kinds of stuff from Mike Tyson’s new film to ad impressions on the web.. I mean it got real nerdy and real conceptual in the span of minutes.  My type of lunch talk.. (Smile..)

California Wonders:

We headed up to Hippie Valley (aka Yosemite) before the summer crowds.  During our stay we caught some amazing weather.  We caught some natural mystic weather (clouds coming and going, appearing disappearing.)  Time almost stays still up there (No internet, no phone service).  Thing are just different up in Yosemite Valley and I am glad they are.

Food Coma ::

After the Depeche Mode show we were starving.. We were now on a mission to get some grub.. But with three girls you know that can’t be an easy task.. I thought in’n out would be an easy call but one of them was like ‘eww you know I can’t eat that.. you can go and I’ll just eat after’..(wtf..ahaha) ummmm so  we were thinking where to eat as thousands of people are walking by us prob thinking the same thing (lets go eat)… Thai was thrown out there by one of the girls but I couldn’t to wait for an hour to eat.. We decided to start walking away from the show… Time goes by and we couldn’t decide where to go eat so I threw up (the don’t fail me now) Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles.. and I swear I thought we won lotto.. Cuz the girls were screaming with excitement.. I must have heard Roscoe’s repeated a 100 times in 30seconds.. It was perfect cuz we were only a couple of blocks away…  And as we were walking over there in excitement,  I couldn’t help but recap and laughed out loud and said ohhh we can’t eat in’n out but we can eat Rosco’s.. We all started laughing…

Heard that they closed down Hollywood Blvd for a Depeche Mode show…

Met up with Joanne, Teresa, and Juanita at Teresa’s house in Los Feliz. We saw the thousands upon thousands of hard core fans already in line.. By 4pm the line for admission extended from Hollywood Blvd to Sunset at least fifty people wide, (basically a streets width..) so that was a no go.. We decided to put on our ninja shoes and we did a straight covert operation and snuck into the W residence construction zone .. With the construction workers wearing orange vests and hard hats going home for the evening we decided to walk in the shadows…

1) Duck like the movie Man on Wire we hid behind a stack a dry wall.. We heard a group of guys getting off work.. 2) Quick another pic before more people walk by..

1) Found a empty room where we chilled out for an hour..

Went down south with Joe Hahn of Linkin Park to the New Era Design Office.  We took his Bat Mobile.. Worked with Mario over at New Era on some new hats…(will keep you posted)

After the wonderful Breakfast Tacos.. Joel took me to a little secret spot..

The Serengeti of Austin….

No joke.. miles upon miles of Texas land with Wild Animals.. Shit was bananas.. We went off road’n for miles reaching Lakes and ponds with stocked fish.. Heards of Gizelles, Zebras, Giraffes, Turtles, Buffalo….all on private property, shit was insane…..I was breath taking..  Texas Style I guess…

As we were driving around the gosh dam serengeti Joel was saying this is one of the reasons he likes Austin…. Thanks Joel for sharing..

Over the course of the many years that I’ve known Hollywood, there have been times I’ve seen her shine bright, and there have been times I’ve seen some dullness. She has made many dreams come true, as well as broken many hearts. She’s always changing her style and will never cease to surprise you. The thing I love about Hollywood is her diversity. Her unabashed lust for red carpets, velvet ropes, hotel pool parties, dive bars, secret clubs, backyard barbecues, sunsets at the beach and young raw talent. I have seen her give love to street performers with the same love as movie stars. She’s at her best when she pushes the rules aside and allows those golden moments to happen, the times when she treats everyone like a star. So many people have fallen in love with her for that. Young Hollywood is about big dreams, ambitions, friendships, good times, moments of magic, being different and carving out your own path. But most of all Hollywood is about passing those golden moments on to strangers, friends and loved ones. We gotta keep her alive and bright. A huge thank you to W Hotels and Think PR for hosting a viewing of our new campaign and as well allowing us to present a selection of our new collection..

The VIP W Hotels back stage lounge was truly back stage of the tents in Bryant Park.. The W lounge was where VIPs/Celebrities(Justin Timberlake)/Press chilled out between shows with a little champagne and if they so pleased a yummy Pop burger..Here’s a few pics..

The nice people at SM entertainment was kind enough to invite me over to a nice mixer(meet and greet). It was at a ill beach house in Malibu. I swooped up Rickey on the way over to the mixer.. When we got there the SM entrainment america, SuChin, Joe Khan(video dir) and some other peeps were already hangin.. Pop’d the crystal and was able to do a little wine tasting.. before heading over to the Andre/Belvedere IX launch..
